2020 started off with a bang for me, it was fantastic. I celebrated the beginning of what was going to be an awesome year in Japan with my best friend. Fast forward a couple months and we're dealing with a worldwide pandemic. I ended up spending Easter alone that year and wasn't able to see my mom for Mother's Day. The year was going to shit.... except that creatively it was probably my best year yet. I think being alone and working from home allowed for time to myself, which was much needed. I ended up completing 7 sketchbooks in 2020 (8 if you count Dec 2019 in Australia and Japan).
Journaling my travels and journaling what was going on in the world at the time kept me sane in a way. It was not only a creative outlet but a way to record my history. I hope to share with you snippets of this here on the blog. We'll start with Australia and Japan, December 2019. At the time, I was in Sydney visiting family during the wild fires and then flew to Japan before coming back to the states to the eventual pandemic mess.
