Creative spaces and keeping the vibe right…

The painting sat there for months collecting dust, unfinished, judging me for abandoning it, but I had no energy or mental capacity to give it time. I would tell myself each day, “Today I need to work on finishing it” but the work day would come to a close and I would leave my office and not look back.
It took me a long time to figure out why I did not feel like being creative in that room. My home office was also my art studio. My day-job is completely unrelated to art and creativity. I do actually like my day job, but just like most people, once the day was over, I wanted to leave it behind. I didn’t feel like spending time in that room once the workday was done and that meant leaving art projects unfinished.
So I moved my office to another area of the house. I had to give priority to my own peace at home and for me that peace is where I can be creative. The moment my job stuff left that room, I started getting back into creating. Now my art studio is my chill spot. A space where I create, read, journal, meditate and most importantly, I don’t associate it with work! Everything in life is energy so keeping stressful energy out of creative spaces is extremely important. My new office area is actually making me a bit more productive too, since I don’t have unfinished paintings staring me in the face.
With that said, my “Coming Home” painting progress is now moving along. As much as I love this painting, I need it to be done. I gave myself a deadline of end of June. I have too many ideas floating around in my head but I can’t start anything until this is done. Next time, I’m picking a smaller canvas.
This is what it looks like currently… getting there slowly. :)
